Make a quick list of terms that relate to any subject that you know well (you can go back and add to it at any time) --kinds of fish or shoes, baseball terms, car parts, fabrics, tools, instruments --whatever falls in your area of expertise. Abstractions
- Make a list of abstract concepts like love, ego, persistence, sloth…
- Make the list longer.
- Then make a list of common objects.
- Point blind at one term on each list.
- Write no more than five lines making the objet a metaphor for the abstraction
- Try it again
- And again (for a total of three metaphors)
