Stepping Out of Apathy Project
Apathy is a lack of interest in or concern for things that others find moving or exciting. It means standing by and doing nothing. Atticus says, “I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It’s when you know [you’ve lost] before you begin but you begin anyway and you see through it no matter what.”
In this project you will identify a local or national social issue (from the list below) that you think people need to become more informed about and take action regarding it. You will research the topic and create an informative (tell about the issue) and persuasive (what we can do about it) presentation to be presented to either middle schoolers or high schoolers.
You need use two credible sources in this project.
Remember that when doing research you need credible/ scholarly sources. In other words, your sources must be reliable, accurate, and trustworthy. Faith based sources of any kind are not considered credible sources because they are not categorized as reference material (they are considered religious texts).
Grading: You will be graded on a modified Opinion/ Argument Writing standard. You can find the scales attached below.
You will need to complete a Proposal Sheet no later than Wednesday, November 6.
You are responsible for turning in the following:
